Do You Need a “Friendship Cleanse”? Here’s How to Know When to Say Goodbye

8 years ago Isabell Rose
I'm no stranger to walking away from friendships. In fact, a few years ago I found myself walking away from five women who I thought would be my friends for life. Five women who I spent 14 years with; who transitioned with me from high school to college to adulthood; who I threw baby showers, birthday parties, and bachelorette events for; who I walked down the aisle next to as both a bridesmaid and a bride; who I spent countless hours sitting at a diner eating breakfast with; and who I had to walk away from in order to become the person that I am right now. These friends, though, haven't been the only ones that I have had to let go of, and, to be honest, those were extreme circumstances. Not everyone has to make the decision that I did to walk away from an entire group of people in one fell swoop. However, there have been other times in my life where I had to walk away from friends. Sometimes dramatically, and sometimes by just distancing myself. Either way, there are sig..

5 Essential Oils That Could Beat Even the Worst Hangover

5 Essential Oils That Could Beat Even the Worst Hangover 5 Essential Oils That Could Beat Even the Worst Hangover Hangovers are the absolute worst — pounding headache, churning stomach, fatigue, dehydration, and that awful restless feeling that just won't go away. Just hours earlier you were having fun and in the best of spirits — buying a round for everyone at the bar, ordering "just one more" glass of wine. Hangovers, which are caused by consuming too much alcohol, can really put a damper on your day — leaving you bedridden and reaching for ibuprofen or whatever greasy sandwich you can get your hands on. However, there is also a convenient, natural option to turn to when a hangover hits you: essential oils. Essential oils are oils derived from natural sources, mainly plants, that have been used for thousands of years to treat everything from anxiety to acid reflux. "Essential oils can be a perfect hangover helper because they are completely natural, easily customizable, a..

What It’s Like When Your Mellow Child Starts Freaking Out Over the Tiniest of Things

My 4-year-old son is my mellow child. His almost 7-year-old sister is a drama queen of epic proportions, who has never had a feeling she hasn't worn splashed across her face. Where she's like a firework, quick to pop off and detonate, he's a slow burner. The only problem with this situation? He only gets fired up about tiny and (in my opinion) totally inappropriate things. A major disappointment, like, say, not getting the big Christmas present he wanted (because he changed his mind two days before) or missing his best friend's birthday party because we already committed to going to Grandma's, he can shrug off like a champ. But if he doesn't get a blue chair in his preschool class? Wars will be waged, and the enemy force always seems to be me. 44416536 We're both dealing with the fallout of his sweating the small stuff, and frankly, it sucks.I would expect this behavior from a younger toddler, but these irrational freak-outs are a new thing for hi..

Injured? These Trainers Say You Can Still Exercise — Here’s How

Did you hurt yourself? Ouch! We've definitely been there — and it definitely sucks. But while an injury can be frustrating and painful, it doesn't necessarily have to hold you back from exercising. 44556631 "An injury provides you with an opportunity to work on other areas of your health and well-being," said trainer Caroline Jordan, creator of the Hurt Foot Fitness Course and Strong Body Beautiful program. "It allows you to learn more about yourself and grow stronger inside and out. It provides an opportunity to learn how to be more self-compassionate. It also provides time to reflect on things that may need to change in your life." 44530006 "An injury provides you with an opportunity to work on other areas of your health and well-being." Jordan's approach is a positive one, especially because she has dealt with a sidelining injury herself and managed to stay active throughout her recovery. "Healing through an injury is challenging but can also be a blessing," sh..
