Prince Harry And Duchess Meghan Won’t Pass Their Titles On To Any Daughters

The British monarchy is trying these days to show it’s not a regular mom, it’s a cool mom, y’all! It has several Instagram accounts, it lets birth order, and not gender, decide who gets to ascend first to the crown, and it even didn’t put up a fuss when Prince Harry got married to the divorced American Duchess Meghan. But when it comes to Harry and Meghan’s lofty duke and duchess titles going to any daughters they might have one day, suddenly the royal code is moonwalking back to tell the modern world, “Ehhhh…not so fast

Harry and Meghan were given the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they said “I do”. However, People notes those titles can only be passed down to a son, so any potential daughters may as well just go work at Hooters because they don’t mean shit in the world of made-up titles and meaningless royal status! The issue is made even bigger since Meghan’s page on the royal family website proclaims that she’s a feminist and all about girl power. While the “paws off, bitches” rule still stands regarding titles only going to boys, it’s not like the monarchy is entirely a frigid meanie. When Duchess Kate was pregnant with Prince George, the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013 got passed, and that means birth order determines who is next in line to the crown – not whether you’re a boy or not.

The peerage rules still stand, and that’s led to some wacky inheritance matters. One rich lord in the U.K. died, but he only had eight daughters. That meant the 6,000-acre estate he lived in didn’t go to any of his kids but, instead, went to some distant male cousin. It had everyone screaming, “She was robbed!” regarding his eldest daughter, but rules are rules! While it may be a little controversial, I think I have this all figured out with a novel approach where everyone will be happy: just make THE QUEEN flip a damn switch and let girls have a damn title!
