This Teen Secretly Restored His Grandpa's 1957 Chevy, and We've Never Seen Anyone So Grateful

Cam Dedman, a teenager from Louisville, KY, knows that the bond he and his grandfather, Fred Lamar, share is truly something special. To celebrate their relationship, Cam decided to take on the daunting task of restoring his grandpa's 1957 Chevy Bel Air that's been collecting dust in the garage since 1976. In a Facebook post, Cam explained that although this project was a tall order, he knew his grandfather's reaction would be worth the time, money, and effort.

"He about passed out . . . This was so hard to complete let alone do it without him knowing," he said. "I saved up for years to do this even sold my personal car to help fund parts for the car. It all is worth it though for my grandpa!"

How exactly did Cam keep the restoration a secret for long? By telling his grandpa he was keeping the car "in storage at different family members houses." He told Babble how his little white lie went a long way, saying: "It was very, very hard to keep it from him since I did all the work myself in my garage and a friend's garage to keep it safe. Managed to pull it off just long enough to get the car done. He was completely blown away by the finished product had no idea that I was doing it."

Seriously, how cute is that? And judging by the before and after shots, every part of the car down to the last bolt appeared to need fixing. Here's what Cam started with when he first took on the restoration:

And the after? It might as well be a completely different car:

As expected, Cam's post quickly went viral and has racked up 1,800 reactions and 725 shares on Facebook so far. And while Cam is appreciative of all the kind words flooding in from strangers, it was the look on his grandfather's face that truly made the restoration worth it.

"I did this from the bottom of my heart for my grandpa. I never expected so much positive feedback from so many others! Thank you everyone, I truly am grateful for the support and kindness received!"
