President Donald Trump will give his first State of the Union address on Tuesday, and Gossip Cop has a live stream available online. The speech comes just a little over a year into his presidency. Watch it below!
Speaking from the Capitol, Trump is expected to cover many of the issues that his administration has worked on over the past year, including the economy, tax cuts, immigration, infrastructure, trade and national security. The president will also likely draw attention to the accomplishments made since he took office, including economic progress and the tax overhaul. He may also touch on the growing tension between the United States and North Korea.
Trump’s speech is also expected to focus on winning the support of Congress for immigration reform and infrastructure spending. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said on Monday that the theme of the address is “building a safe, strong, and proud America.” Sanders wouldn’t offer too many details on what Trump planned to talk about, but she described the upcoming address as “must-watch TV.” Also, Trump’s campaign website is offering supporters who contribute as little as $1 to his re-election effort to have their names displayed during the live stream.
Meanwhile, Rep. Joe Kennedy III will deliver the Democratic response to the president’s address. The Massachusetts Congressman tweeted, “From health care to economic justice to civil rights, the Democratic agenda stands in powerful contrast to President Trump’s broken promises to American families. Deeply honored to be chosen to deliver the response to the State of the Union.” Rep. Maxine Waters will also give a speech on BET following Trump’s address. Walters is one of several Democratic lawmakers who have chosen to skip the president’s speech.
