Director Luc Besson Has Been Accused Of Rape
May 20, 2018Is there anyone left in Hollywood who’s been the direct inspiration for a #MeToo hashtag that hasn’t been rounded up yet? I see you, James Woods! French film director and Captain America’s arch-nemesis Luc Besson gave us movies like The Fifth Element (“Multi-pass!“) and Lucy. He also allegedly gave a woman something straight out of the Cosby catalog – a drug in her tea that knocked her out so he could allegedly rape her. Europe 1 (via the NY Daily News) reports that an unnamed actress filed a complaint against Besson on Friday morning, accusing him of drugging and raping her.
In the complaint, the actress says that this took place in a Paris hotel. The accuser, who she said she’s known Besson for years, said that she passed out after drinking tea in the hotel room.
The actress said that she woke up in the hotel room with memories that she was touched and penetrated, the European station reported.
And just to add that special touch of further degradation, he allegedly acted like a john afterward.
She said that Besson had exited the hotel room before her and left behind a wad of cash, according to Europe 1.
Besson hasn’t spoken publicly, but his attorney has. In fact, Besson “fell off his chair upon hearing of the complaint’s existence.” according to his lawyer. The director reportedly admitted that he’s “been in contact” with the actress “from time to time” but denies her accusation.
In a creepy sidenote to this story (and your mileage may vary as to how relevant this next fact is *shrug*), Besson’s second of four wives was 15 and pregnant with his child when he married her in 1992. He was 32. France made 15 the age of consent only this year. So, the theme of that particular wedding was “statutory rape.” That must have been tough to find signature colors for.
