John Cena To Topline ‘The Janson Directive’ From Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions
WWE stars John Cena and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson are tag-teaming outside of the ring in Universal Pictures’ action thriller, The Janson Directive, which Cena has signed on as the lead and Johnson will serve as an executive producer. Johnson, who was originally attached to star in the film, made the announcement via social media.

Written by Jason Bourne author Robert Ludlum, The Janson Directive novel focused on ex-Navy SEAL and former member of a covert government agency Consular Operations Paul Janson, who becomes a corporate security consultant and takes a job rescuing an important man. When the job goes awry, Janson is targeted for a “beyond salvage” termination order and has no choice but to follow the clues that lead him to a massive scandal.
Producers are Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner from Captivate Entertainment, Seven Bucks’ Hiram Garcia, James Vanderbilt, Brad Fischer, and William Sherak of Mythology, and Akiva Goldsman of Weed Road Pictures. Dany Garcia of Seven Bucks and Mythology’s Tracey Nyberg of Mythology are exec producers as well.
Cena, who was last seen in Universal’s comedy Blockers and stars in the upcoming Transformers spinoff, Bumblebee, is repped by ICM.
