Hollywood Denounces Donald Trump Order Banning Most Transgender Troops

President Donald Trump did it again, dropping another controversial decision on Friday night when the news cycle dies down.

The White House tonight released a memorandum that introduces a policy to ban most transgender people from serving in the US military.

According to the document, “transgender persons with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria — individuals who the policies state may require substantial medical treatment, including medications and surgery — are disqualified from military service except under certain limited circumstances.”

The implementation of a transgender ban in the military had been blocked by multiple federal judges. The new order follows a Pentagon policy review initiated by July tweets by Trump, in which he suggested that transgender individuals would not be allowed to serve in the U.S. military “in any capacity.”

Tonight’s ban triggered a strong reaction on Twitter from celebrities and politicians:

Trump announced yet another effort to ban certain trans servicemembers from the military. Because this is what bullies and cowards do. They go after those already hurting or under attack. This is truly the hyena presidency.
