Hoda’s Reaction When Her Daughter Finally Says “Mama” While She’s Away at the Olympics Is Every Working Parent

While Hoda Kotb was in Pyeongchang, South Korea, covering the Winter Olympics, her adorable daughter, Haley Joy, was equally busy.

The little girl — who turned 1 while the Today coanchor was away (Hoda celebrated the big day a few weeks early with a homemade cake and a "Happy Birthday" serenade) — achieved another major milestone. She said "mama."

In a sweet video montage of all of the NBC morning show hosts reuniting with family after two weeks across the globe (you've got to see Savannah Guthrie's cuddly reunion with her daughter!), you can see what it was like for Hoda to learn the big news over one of their twice-daily FaceTime calls, the plight of many working parents.

"I could cry, just listening to her say that," Hoda recalled.

Thankfully, Haley showed off her new skill in person when they had their "own happy homecoming."
