Ed Sheeran Got Engaged To Someone Other Than Taylor Swift

The human representation of Taylor Swift Marketing Ploy #25 (“Platonically befriend dudes who don’t look like your other model friends so the world sees you’re not shallow.“), Ed Sheeran, got engaged. Hopefully his future bride didn’t see him in that “End Game” video. Please stop chucking the deuces, Ed. Bodies are still frozen mid-cringe after watching that. She might call off the wedding! (Oh, and Darren Criss got engaged, too.)

People reports that Ed announced his engagement to long-time gal pal Cherry Seaborn on Instagram today.

“Got myself a fiancée just before new year,” the 26-year-old singer wrote on Instagram Saturday, captioning a sweet photo of he and Seaborn — who has inspired, among other things, Sheeran’s latest hit single. “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”

Sheeran and Seaborn have known each other since they were kids and have been dating for three years. She was a hockey star at Duke University, and worked as a consultant in in NYC before moving back to the UK to be with Frodo. Oh, and get this – the only genuine-sounding thing to come out of his bestie Taylor’s infamous 4th of July photoshoot party is Ed inviting Cherry to come over to it. That’s when they started dating.

“I’ve known Cherry since I was 11,” the “Shape of You” singer told PEOPLE in March. “She worked on Wall Street in New York, and I had like six shows [around New York in 2015]. It was around then, and we reconnected. I went on tour again, and then I went to Taylor’s 4th of July party. I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I.’ I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history.”

Kudos to Ed for not making Cherry wear an “I *Heart* ES” tank top while she was there.

In other engagement news, speedo-unclad Ryan Murphy troupe member Darren Criss also got engaged to long-time girlfriend Mia Swier. He also announced his huge life choice via Instagram.
