Common Circles, James Badge Dale Set To Join Melissa McCarthy & Tiffany Haddish In ‘The Kitchen’

EXCLUSIVE: Common is in advanced negotiations and James Badge Dale has closed his deal to join Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss in New Line’s film adaptation of The Kitchen, based on the DC/Vertigo female-led crime comic book series. Jeremy Bobb (Netflix series Godless, Manhunt: Unabomber) and Myk Watford (Darkness Rising) have also been cast in this film, written and directed by first-time helm Andrea Berloff.

Set in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen during the 1970s, the story follows wives of Irish mobsters (McCarthy, Haddish, and Moss) who team up to take over running the business after their husbands are arrested and sent to prison.

Common is in talks for the role of FBI agent Gary Silvers. Dale will play Kevin O’Carroll, a mob boss married to Ruby (Haddish). Bobb is Rob Walsh, a violent mobster married to Claire (Moss) and Watford will portray Little Jackie, who initially assumes control of one of the mob crews after his boss is sent to prison.

Domhnall Gleeson, Margo Martindale, Bill Camp and Brian d’Arcy James were previously announced as part of the cast.

Michael De Luca is producing the pic which will begin production next month in New York City. A theatrical release date is slated for September 20, 2019, via Warner Bros.

Common, who will up next be seen in Smallfoot for WB and The Hate U Give for Fox is repped by CAA, manager Derek Dudley, and attorney David Fox. Dale, last seen in Sony’s Only The Brave and has the Netflix thriller Hold The Dark on his upcoming film slate, is repped by CAA.

Bobb is repped by Gersh and Suskin Management, while Watford is a client of BRS/Gage and DiSante Frank & Company.
