“For all of you wondering where the new movie picks up, wonder no further because right here, right now you’re going to see something really special, the beginning of the movie,” said Samuel L Jackson in a video message before the clip started.
It starts out with Agent Rick Dicker, who is charged with protecting the secret super-identity of the family, interrogating a student who recognizes one of the Parrs, while the family was in the midst of thwarting a total city destruction brought on by the Underminer. The superheroes are hesitant at first to spring into action as Helen points out “it is still illegal,” which inevitably doesn’t stop them.
As the family works to protect the pedestrians and the city (or what’s left of it), while juggling babysitting duties, incomes Frozone (Jackson) with the assist and together they stop the Underminer’s enormous drilling machine for completely taking down city hall. The family is then cornered by law enforcement while Frozone manages to escape in an alley where he meets a mysterious man who offers him an opportunity to change the no Supers law.
The Brad Bird written and directed sequel centers on Helen (Holly Hunter) as she is called to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (Jackson) by their side.
No official trailer has been made public though Disney released the teaser back in November, which new head of distribution Cathleen Taff touted as the most watched animated teaser ever with “over 113 million views in the first 24 hours.”
The Incredibles 2 opens June 15.
