A 30-Year-Old Was Taken To Court By His Parents To Get Him Evicted From Their House

According to CNN, a dramatic eviction fight happened yesterday in a Syracuse, NY courtroom between Christina and Mark Rotondo of Camillus, NY and their 30-year-old son Michael, seen above giving you junior Penn Jillette realness. Back in February, Christina and Mark decided they didn’t want their son Michael living at home anymore. So they gave their unemployed son a notice on February 2nd, stating that he had 14 days to vacate the property, and that he would not be allowed to return.
Michael didn’t leave, and on February 13th, his parents served him a second notice giving him 30 days to leave, or else they’d get the law involved. They also offered him $1100 and a list of helpful hints about getting his own place, like how he might want to start looking for a job, and that it might be a good idea to sell some stuff if he needs money. Why do I get the feeling that he was sitting on a large, expensive collection of swords.
When it became evident that Michael wasn’t going to follow that notice, Christina and Mark served him a final notice on March 30th. They told him to get out, and gave him options for removing his broke-down vehicle off their property. When Michael ignored that one, his parents filed for an ejectment proceeding. They couldn’t technically evict him with the standard 30-days rule, because he’s family.
In court, Michael – representing himself, because of course he would – asked a judge to dismiss his parent’s request that he be removed from the home. He claimed that it was unfair of his parents to paint him as a lazy millennial, because not once in the past eight years was he asked to contribute financially or do any chores. He requested at least six months notice. A judge gave him a little pat on the back for his legal research, but ordered him to leave the house immediately.
How soon he’ll be evicted is still up in the air; Christina and Mark are reportedly deciding on a reasonable time frame. Michael met with reporters after the judge made their decision, and he plans on appealing.

Life is about to hit Michael Rotondo very hard and very fast. Rent is expensive when you don’t have a job (although Michael does claim he has a business, the details of which are “his business“). But I’m on Team Parents on this one. 30 is too old to be sitting around the house doing dick all. Especially since his parents should be enjoying their precious empty nester years. There’s no way two older adults would feel any urge to get daytime freaky after glancing over at their adult son splayed out on the couch watching his fifth episode of Maury while picking Totino’s Pizza Rolls crumbs out of his beard.
