MTV Halts ‘Catfish’ Production Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Host Nev Schulman

MTV has temporarily halted production on its popular series Catfish following sexual misconduct allegations against its host Nev Schulman.

“We take these allegations very seriously,” MTV said in a statement. “We’re working with Critical Content, our third-party production company, to conduct a thorough investigation and we’ve put a pause on shooting until the investigation is completed.”

Details of the allegations were not revealed. The accusations surfaced in two YouTube videos posted earlier this week by a woman who appeared on the show three years ago.

Schulman has denied the allegations in statements to media outlets.

Catfish follows Schulman and co-host Max Joseph as they uncover the true identities of people’s online love interests. The series is based on the 2010 documentary Catfish, which tracked the deceptive online romance in which Schulman became caught up. Schulman also serves as an executive producer on the series.
